O Hilário Viseu

O Hilário, Viseu

O Hilário is a popular restaurant in Viseu on the narrow Rua Augusto Hilário. The street and restaurant are named after Augusto Hilário (1864-1896), a famous locally-born fado singer, who once lived on the street.

The friendly, family-run restaurant serves generous portions of pataniscos (cod cakes) and other favorites including the local stew - rancho - and Alheira de Mirandela sausage.

There is an English-menu and English-speaking staff. The place is good value and opens for both lunch and dinner.

Good local wines are also served.
