The Hotel Estoril (Book this hotel with Booking.com) in Porto is a delight, especially if you get one of the larger rooms with a view of the garden at the back.

Some of the rooms are cheaper and have no windows. However, for a little bit more try to stay in the large rooms (with two and three beds) and even a small balcony.
The decor is definitely old school, which we like and the breakfasts rather spartan but the friendliness of the owners more than made up for any slight demerits.

The hotel is located on a pedestrianized street a 10 minute walk from Aliados metro station to the south east. A 15 minute walk north are the stations at Lapa and Carolina Michaelis. The street is full of lively bars and restaurants with outdoor seating. Indeed there's a bar/cafe right next door to the hotel.

Só recomendaria para o meu inimigo, o hotel é péssimo.
odiei tudo, não tem elevador, logo tive que subir três andares, o quarto que já era pequeno não tinha janelas laterais, o banheiro é minusculo. O café da manhã é péssimo, só tinha presunto queijo e pão, além disso o café era fraco e com gosto de queimado, o check out do quarto era exatamente 11:30 e não flexibilizaram para ficar sequer um minuto a mais. Como se não bastasse, uma mulher que trabalhava a noite era muito pouco simpática. Sem dúvida foi o pior hotel que me hospedei em toda minha vida.
