Pico dos Barcelos just outside Funchal on Madeira is a viewpoint (miradouro) with great views over Funchal and out to sea.

Details

The viewpoint is in the parish of Santo António and is at a height of 355 meters. The viewing platform was built in 1950 and named after Diogo Barcelos, one of the area's early settlers. The platform is open from 8 am to 12 pm in summer; 8 am to 10 pm in winter; 8 am to 8 pm on Sundays.

Views

On a clear day there are superb views over Funchal and the sea to the south. Looking north it is possible to see the Igreja de Santo António with its twin bell towers.

Access - Getting There

The area is about a 10-minute drive from downtown Funchal. By bus, take the number 8 from AV Mar Alfândega (30 minutes).
