Praça da República is the main, central square in Tomar with its statue of Gualdim Pais, usually with a pigeon perched on his helmet.
The square is ringed by a number of elegant 17th century buildings, cafes and the old town hall (pictured above). The luxury, 5-star Hotel República Boutique Hotel is on the square with some rooms offering views of the tranquil space.

Access - Getting There
The Praça da República in Tomar is a 10-minute walk north from the adjacent railway and bus stations past the Museu dos Fósforos.
